INTERPLAY OF CULTURES

Interplay of Cultures is an exhibition raising concern about the current state of the world. Our living environment is being altered irreversibly by globalization, climate change and urbanization. As the challenges we face are global, a cross-disciplinary approach is needed in order to tackle them, merging fields such as architecture, design and technology. The exhibition marks the 25th anniversary of education dealing with sustainable development and humanitarian issues at the Aalto University's Department of architecture. Read more »

The exhibition takes its visitors on a journey into the Finnish architecture of the 20th century. Different features, technical solutions, materials and interior design are followed from decade to decade; from National Romanticism to Classicism and Functionalism, through the Modernism that created the country’s international reputation to the architecture of the 1970's.
