HOW FINLAND WAS MODERNIZED – A STORY TOLD IN 200 DRAWINGS

In the large exhibition hall, the Museum of Finnish Architecture celebrates Finland’s centenary with How Finland Was Modernized, an exhibition presenting an unprecedented selection of drawings from the museum’s collections. Through 200 architectural drawings, the exhibition takes visitors on a journey through history, charting Finland’s birth as a modern nation. Read more »


LINE, SPACE AND COLOR. CONSTRUCTIONS BY SAKARI LAITINEN

The Museum of Finnish Architecture is proud to present a celebration of colour and form with this exhibition of art by the Finnish architect Sakari Laitinen. Gifted at drawing, Laitinen practiced art in parallel with architecture from his student years onwards, and after retiring from architecture, he devoted himself wholly to art. His architectural background is mirrored in the special spatial character of his work, which have a distinctly ‘architecturesque’ quality. Read more »


DECADES OF FINNISH ARCHITECTURE 1900–1970

The exhibition takes its visitors on a journey into the Finnish architecture of the 20th century. Different features, technical solutions, materials and interior design are followed from decade to decade; from National Romanticism to Classicism and Functionalism, through the Modernism that created the country’s international reputation to the architecture of the 1970's.   • REVIEW 2018 - Call for proposals!

    by May 31, 2017

    Every other year, the biennial Review showcases the best of the latest Finnish architecture. Now we are looking for projects for the Review 2018. To qualify, the project must be a building, landscaping project or urban plan created by a Finnish architect either in Finland or abroad. Projects undertaken in Finland by non-Finnish architects also qualify. Qualifying projects must date from July 1, 2015-June 30, 2017. Nominate your favorite project by May 31, 2017! Read more »
